Twin Lakes - Fairview - Oliver

friday, sept 7

Today, we have a spectacular end to our cycling together. We switch our hybrids for Trek Domane carbon frame road bikes as we shuttle up north for our start in the rolling Okanagan Highlands, riding through Twin Lakes to our first stop, Nighthawk Vineyards for a tasting. Then, we continue on a spectacular ride through rolling ranchlands and a long, sweeping descent through the orchards and vineyards of Oliver. We cross over to Black Sage Road and stop for lunch of artisan bread, charcuterie and fresh Okanagan fruit at Platinum Bench Winery and Artisan Bakery. After lunch, it's an easy ride to our pick up spot just north of Osoyoos.

Dinner tonight is a wonderful wrap up for our time together. We'll join you for a hosted dinner at the Sonora Room at Burrowing Owl.

Our Tour

OUR STOPS

Nighthawk-view.jpg

nighthawk vineyards

Our vineyard story began as a celebration of family and friendship, inspired by the natural beauty of this magical valley in Okanagan Falls.  We share the land with the local wildlife, including the Nighthawks that return each spring to nest during the growing season.  The unique micro climate of Okanagan Falls provides a rare habitat perfectly suited to these majestic birds, and of course some of the valley’s finest grape growing conditions…coincidence or not?

platinum bench (our lunch stop)

Platinum Bench's artisan breads are legendary in the South Okanagan. We've used them as the foundation for a spectacular charcuterie picnic lunch, featuring local cheeses, hand cured meats and fresh Okanagan fruit. Pair them with a wine from Platinum's selection.

Nk'Mip Interpretive centre (optional afternoon activity)

This isn't part of our cycling route, but if you do have the chance we highly recommend visiting this award wining interpretive centre ran by the Osoyoos band. It's open daily til 4:30 pm.

The state-of-the-art interpretive centre is an architectural marvel sensitively constructed into a hillside. Extensive indoor and outdoor exhibit galleries create a fun, interactive learning environment with hands-on displays, education stations and two multi-media theatre experiences.
