Glenfir - Naramata - Penticton - Kaleden
Thursday, september 6
This ride is all about contrasts and history. We'll start with a shuttle ride through the South Okanagan Valley up to the Kettle Valley Rail Trail above Naramata. Along the way we'll share some of the history of this area. We then ride down the KVR through the remote Okanagan highlands and Ponderosa forests towards Naramata, through Little Tunnel and it's amazing scenic vistas of the Okanagan Valley. As we ride, the scenery will transition to the vineyards and orchards of the Naramata bench. Here, our tour turns into a sampling of the best the Okanagan has to offer. We'll stop for a picnic lunch at Poplar Grove cheese and Lock and Worth Wines. From here, we continue our ride down to Penticton and continue on the KVR trail down the westside of Skaha Lake to the village of Kaleden. There, we have one of the only climbs of the day up to scenic Linden Gardens where we'll wrap up the ride. (Option - depending on time, we can include an additional downhill ride into Okanagan Falls to finish)
Dinner tonight is at Convivia Bistro, just a short walk from the resort.
High above Naramata you'll find one of the most popular destinations on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail - The "Little Tunnel". From here you have a sweeping view of the entire South Okanagan.
poplar grove cheese (our lunch stop)
"At Poplar Grove Cheese, we love life – and that includes good food and wine. We are passionate about making delicious hand-crafted French style cheeses."
Owner Gitta Pederson makes some of our personal favorites, including a dynamite double cream camembert. We'll be having a picnic lunch here in the vineyards. Feel free to include a round or two of Poplar Grove's finest with your lunch!
Linden Gardens & Frog City Cafe
Frog City Cafe offers an eclectic atmosphere and fresh menu selections with produce from our vegetable garden and local farmers. We proudly serve organic coffee, cappuccino and espresso, high quality loose-leaf teas, hot or ice, and other delectable treats.
