Relax and enjoy the view of the lake that stretches in front of you on your private deck. Stroll along the beach, enjoy Locals Grill or just unwind by the pool in the warm Okanagan sunshine. In this place, all choices are good ones.
Ride under the shadow of Giant’s Head Mountain, roll along Bottleneck Drive, discover the true fate of Sam McGee (hint: he wasn’t cremated), ride the Kettle Valley Steam train or have a gourmet dinner in an apple orchard. In Summerland, all things are possible.
Day One - After your check in Summerland's Waterfront Resort, join us for a welcome reception where you’ll be introduced to the Giro Team. After the reception, tonight's dinner destination is right next to the resort - Local's on Lakeshore. Sleep tight, we have great cycling in store for tomorrow!
Dinner - Local on Lakeshore's dining room is considered one of the Okanagan’s premier adult oriented restaurants that merges casual sophistication with an upbeat metropolitan style. Our 60 seat restaurant atmosphere is often described as an urban retreat with amazing views of the water and natural elements.
Day Two - This morning, we'll have your bike ready for you when you finish breakfast at the resort. We'll start out right from the resort and explore the great riding that can be found around Summerland. We'll ride on the same routes that were used by both fur traders and gold miners. We'll explore the nooks and crannies of Bottleneck Drive. We'll stop and visit some of our favorite destinations in this region, including a ride on the Kettle Valley Steam Train. Lunch today will be served by the Giro team under the huge shade trees of Nomad cidery. After our tour we'll meet you at the resort's pier and take you on a private cruise of Okanagan Lake. We'll drop you at your dinner destination across the lake at Naramata: 1908 Restaurant in the Naramata Heritage Inn. After dinner we'll pick you up in the Giro Shuttle for the drive back to the resort.
Lunch - A gourmet al fresco lunch from Waterfront Café will be served by the Giro Team at Nomad Cidery.
Dinner - 1908 Restaurant is the newest passion project for renowned chef Bradley Clease. After dinner take a few minutes to stroll through this charming village on the lake!
Day Three Today, we do one of the most iconic road rides in the entire Okanagan. We begin in Penticton, where we'll climb through the pine forests and cool streams of Green Mountain. Then we have a spectacular descent to Highway 3 and another climb to Yellow Lake. From there we roll through the Okanagan highlands towards Oliver, with a lunch stop at Covert Farms. After lunch, we cross cross the valley from the Golden Mile to Black Sage road, where we'll wrap up with a private tour and tasting at one of this region's many spectacular wineries. This evening, we'll take you to downtown Penticton for a stroll along Front Street and some stories from the Okanagan's past. For dinner, we've put together a short list of our favorite downtown destinations and the group can pick their favourite.
Lunch - Farm to table doesn't get more authentic than at Covert Farms, where the table is right on the farm. Learn more about this 4th generation farm and enjoy the fruits of their agricultural know-how!
Dinner - Tonight, after a historic tour of downtown Pentiction the group can pick from one of our favorite dining partners.
Day Four It’s our last day of cycling and we’ve put together a spectacular itinerary for you. After breakfast at the resort, we'll pick you up in the Giro shuttle at take you to the Kettle Valley Rail Trail high above Kelowna. You'll ride over the famous trestles of spectacular Myra Canyon and then continue on the trail all the way to Penticton. Our guides will share tales and tidbits of how the railway was built and point out historic artifacts. Our Giro support team will have lunch ready for you when you get to rustic Chute Lake Resort. After the ride, we'll have a unforgettable hosted wrap-up dinner at Villa Rosa Ristorante in Penticton.
Lunch - The Giro team will meet you at Chute Lake Resort with a hearty lunch.
Dinner - Over the years Villa Rosa has built their reputation by offering consistently great food with an extensive local BC and Italian wine list. Together they truly compliment the atmosphere and make for a unforgettable experience.
Day Five This morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Resort before your travels home. If you’re not quite ready to leave the Okanagan, ask us about other ideas to extend your stay!
* Our sample itineraries tend to be packed with options. As we mentioned, this is just a guide and - as such - we thought it best to give you as many options as possible.
Summerland has been marketed to the world as an agricultural paradise for over a century now. And it has lived up to it’s billing. You’re only a 20 minute drive from Penticton and 40 minutes from Kelowna. This region has many stories to tell: of gold miners, fur traders and noble born English gentlemen unceremoniously shipped to the colonies by their families. Here, enrichment takes on many meanings.
