Osoyoos Casa di Campagna Retreat
Our Accommodation Partner
burrowing owl guesthouse
The Burrowing Owl Guesthouse is quintessentially South Okanagan. It overlooks a vineyard. It’s tucked against rock bluffs. It’s next to a winery. It just doesn’t get much better than this!
The South Okanagan provides a wonderful canvas that demands to be painted in bold strokes. Below is just a sample of what you could do - so you can begin to get the picture:
Day One - After your check in at the Burrowing Owl Guesthouse, join us for a welcome reception where you’ll be introduced to the Giro Team. After the reception, your first dinner destination is right next to the Guesthouse at the Sonora Room at Burrowing Owl.
Dinner - The philosophy of the talented culinary team at the Sonora Room Restaurant is to embrace the privilege and the opportunity to showcase many of the South Okanagan’s local producers with their array of local organic produce, fresh, seasonal fruits and artisan breads and cheeses. The focus is on excellence in a relaxed and spectacular vineyard setting.
Day Two - After breakfast at the Guesthouse, your guides and support team will meet you and we'll start riding right from the front door. We begin by following the Channel Trail that connects Oliver and Osoyoos, along the route of the famous Brigade Trail. We'll share the history as we ride towards Oliver and our first stop, coffee and gelato at Medici's. Then, we continue north and hit our turn around point in the shadow of McIntyre Bluff, riding back on Tuc el Nuit Drive. We'll ride through the South Okanagan's Black Sage wine country, where we'll stop for a private tour and picnic lunch at Le Vieux Pin. Then, it's a short ride on Black Sage back to Burrowing Owl. After our ride, we'll take you into Osoyoos for a visit to the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Museum, where our hosts will share fascinating stories of the Okanagan people - the Syilx nation. Then, it's on to our dinner destination, Masala Bistro at Kismet Winery.
Lunch - A gourmet al fresco lunch from Oliver Eats will be served by the Giro Team at Le Vieux Pin Winery.
Dinner - New on the South Okanagan culinary scene, Masala Bistro draws on the rich Punjabi influence in the area to fuse locally sourced ingredients with traditional Indian recipes.
Day Three Today, as an option, you can join us for a pre-breakfast morning yoga session by the pool overlooking the vineyards. After breakfast, we'll take the Giro Shuttle over the Anarchist Summit to Rock Creek, once the frenzied scene of a gold rush in the 1860's. A short drive north of Rock Creek, we'll unload the bikes and get on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail and ride it through Boundary Country along the Kettle River. This is one of the most historic routes in the BC Interior (the main supply route for the Cariboo Gold Rush further north) and we'll share some of the more fascinating tidbits. After a picnic lunch back in Rock Creek (on the way back) we'll continue on to the lovingly preserved historic main street of Greenwood where the Giro shuttle will meet us to take us back to the Guesthouse. Tonight, supper is at Terrafina Restaurant at Hester Creek Winery.
Lunch - An al-fresco lunch served by the Giro Team on the banks of the Kettle River.
Dinner - Meaning ‘from the earth‘ Terrafina is a gorgeous Tuscan style restaurant nestled amongst the vines of Hester Creek Estate Winery in Oliver. This unique vineyard dining experience provides the perfect partner to be enhanced by the culinary and service expertise of RauDZ Creative Concepts Ltd.
Day Four It’s our last day of cycling and we’ve saved one of our favorite rides to the last. After breakfast at the guesthouse, we'll shuttle you to our starting point at Twin Lakes near Kaleden. From there, we'll enjoy a wonderful rolling ride through the Okanagan Highland, past White Lake and on to our lunch stop at Covert Farms where we'll enjoy a charcuterie lunch. After lunch, we continue through Oliver and along Ryegrass Road, eventually working our way back to Burrowing Owl. Then your Giro Hosts will join you for a private wrap up dinner at the Chef's Table at Backyard Farms.
Lunch - Farm to table doesn't get more authentic than at Covert Farms, where the table is right on the farm. Learn more about this 4th generation farm and enjoy the fruits of their agricultural know-how!
Dinner - Chef Chris and his team at the Chef's Table have been redefining excellence in sustainable cuisine for the past 3 years now. Dinner here is a spectacular "meal of a lifetime" experience. (Minimum group size of 8 for the Chef's Table)
Day Five This morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Guesthouse before your travels home. If you’re not quite ready to leave the Okanagan, ask us about other ideas to extend your stay!
* Our sample itineraries tend to be packed with options. As we mentioned, this is just a guide and - as such - we thought it best to give you as many options as possible.
The South Okanagan has a flavour all it’s own. The smell of sun warmed sage. Acres of vineyards stretching to the hills. Passionate chefs defining their art in uncompromising terms. A strong indigenous heritage. And some of the best cycling in the entire valley. We love the south. We know you will too.
